CHRIS CUMMINGS AND CHARITY LEARN TAKE TOP HONORS IN SEASON OPENER -- FIRST RACE
RUN AT NEW LAMB'S CREEK COURSE
 MANSFIELD –
Chris Cummings (Mansfield/Mansfield) and Charity Learn
(Troy) christened the new cross country course at Lamb's Creek in style
by winning the men's and women's races against SUNY-Brockport Saturday morning.
The Mountaineer women took
the top three spots in posting a 21-34 victory over Brockport while the men,
despite Cummings top finish, dropped a 20-44 decision.
Learn ran
away from the field of 26 with a winning time of 14:42 over the 4k course. She was 17 seconds ahead
of second place finisher Rachel Hall (Blue Ridge/New Milford). Freshman
Tricia Learn (Troy) had a strong outing in her first collegiate
race finishing third with
a time of 15:05.
Freshmen Heather
Wida (Elmira,NY/Southside) and Clarissa Correll
(Mansfield/Mansfield) were seventh and eighth overall with times of
16:11 and 16:14 respectively.
Chris Cummings
took top honors on the men’s side out kicking the leaders with a time of 19:15
over the 6k course. He outdistanced second place finisher Ryan Kolb of SUNY-Brockport
by 15 seconds. Bryan Morseman (Addison,NY/Addison) was the
Mountaineers second runner finishing seventh overall with a time of 20:21.
Jon Holtz (Manchester,NY/Manchester-Shortsville) was 14th at 21:38
with Richard Correll (Mansfield/Mansfield) placing 17th (22:06)
and 18th (22:07) respectively.
