Tim Dempsey - Head Coach

Now entering his sixth season as the Mountaineers first head soccer coach, Tim Dempsey has laid the foundation for a successful future.

Dempsey’s first five seasons already established a reputation as solid fundamental teams highlighted by a tenacious defense.

Dempsey came to Mansfield after a stint as the most successful coach in the Mayflower Conference history. In 12 years as the head mentor at Green Mountain College in Vermont, his Eagles won 11 conference championships, advancing to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 1990, 1996 and 2000. His 2000 team also posted an undefeated record and ranked #6 in the nation.

Dempsey was the Mayflower Conference Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year in 1989, 90, 91, 94, 97, 98 and 2000 and the NAIA District V Coach of the Year in 1992 and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 1990, 96, 99 and 2000.

In addition to his success on the soccer field at Green Mountain, Dempsey also served as head women’s basketball coach where he directed his team’s to Mayflower Championships five times while being named Coach of the Year on six occasions.

A legendary high school player in his native New Jersey, Dempsey went on to become a four-year First Team All-Conference play at Glassboro State College (now Rowan College) and was captain of the 1981 National Championship Team while earning All-American honors.

In 1982, Dempsey graduated Magna Cum Laude from Glassboro with a BA in health and physical education.

Dempsey, along with his wife Heather, is very active member of the Mansfield community serving as a member of the board of MARA soccer and the United Fund. They live in Mansfield with their children Colleen, Ryan and Erin.
