Welcome to the online home for Mansfield University Sprint Football.

Mansfield  will become the first public institution in the nation to offer Sprint Football beginning during the fall of 2008. This website was created to help answer questions about this new endeavor, as well as provide detailed updates throughout the year.

Along the left hand menu, you can find information about the sport and the league, as well as links to the conference website and all participating schools in the conference.

Any student-athletes considering playing sprint football at Mansfield in the future can fill out an online questionnaire by clicking on the helmet to the left.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Overflow crowd attends sprint football organizational meeting

MANSFIELD – A standing-room only crowd greeted head coach Dan Davis and his coaching staff during the first organizational meeting of the 2008 sprint football team Tuesday afternoon at Decker Gymnasium.

Sixty-three players attended Tuesday’s meeting with at least another five players unable to attend because of other obligations. The players filled out medical information for the athletic training staff as well as an information sheet for the sports information office.

Coach Davis introduced his staff and went over the preseason schedule. He also discussed what he expected form the players as well as what they could expect from him.

Players will meet again on Thursday and Friday before receiving helmets and going through medical testing on Saturday morning. The first actual practice is scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 2-4:30 p.m.

The team will continue to practice with an intra squad scrimmage set for Sept. 6 following team and individual photo’s.

Another intra squad scrimmage will be held on Sept. 13 with a scrimmage against Princeton University scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sept. 20 at Karl Van Norman Field.

The Mountaineers first official game will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 when Mansfield host Cornell University starting at 12:30 p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field.
