Frequently asked questions about the Mansfield University Baseball camp

 

 

1)       Who is on your camp staff?

        ANSWER - Our Camp includes and our University Baseball Staff,  College and High School Coaches who embrace our philosophy along with members of our Mansfield University Baseball Team under the direction of Head Baseball Coach Harry Hillson.

 

 

2)       What is your camp philosophy?

        ANSWER – Our goal for every camper is to provide the necessary instruction, motivation and encouragement for him to more on to the next level of baseball. We provide this experience in a fun positive atmosphere.

 

 

3)       How much spending money should I bring?

        ANSWER - Campers should have enough spending money for drinks during the day, and pizza, snacks at night. We offer a full line of Mountaineer Baseball souvenirs including hats and tee-shirts. 

 

 

4)       What is the camp level of supervision and security? 

        ANSWER – Campers are grouped by age by floor with camp staff residing on each campers floor and are responsible for 24 hour supervision. Each player is assigned a team coach who will take his team to dinner, pool, etc. Roll call is taken before each session and at meal times. All residence hall  outside doors are locked at 10pm.  Openings all main entrance and exits doors after that time signals an alarm in our Campus Police Station. Camp Police, EMTs are on call and available 24 per day.

 

 

5)       What age division should my son be participating in ?

        ANSWER -We have 5 ages divisions. Players are assigned to  a division the first night of camp based on the following criteria, a) request to be with friends and siblings b) based on parental request c) by age.

 

 

6)       What should I bring to camp?

        ANSWER – You should bring all your baseball gear, glove ,bat spikes, etc. Shorts, tee shirts and sneakers are acceptable attire for camp sessions. You should bring towels, pillow, bedding for a twin bed or sleeping bag. Each room has connections for cable TV. You just need to bring a TV and a cable wire. Small refrigerators may be brought to your room.

 

 

7)       Can I request a roommate?

        ANSWER – Roommate requests will be honored if they are received in writing one week before the beginning of camp. Players are housed two to a room. Triples are allowed .

 

 

8)       Can I attend more than one camp and are all the camps the same?

        ANSWER - Camps sessions are designed so that campers may attend more than one session consecutively. Many campers attend two, three or even four session in a summer. Meals , supervision and lodging are provided between sessions for a nominal fee.  Every Mansfield University Baseball Camp is similar in the techniques and philosophies taught, but no two camps are the same.

 

 

9)       Does Campus Dining Services provide for special dietary needs? 

        ANSWER – Campus Dining Services offers a diversified all your can eat menu for all meals. They are equipped to handle any special dietary needs.

 

 

10)    What is the procedure for injuries?

        ANSWER – Each player turns in a health form at the registration of camp. This signed form gives medical staff permission to treat your son. Mansfield University utilizes the Guthrie Clinic in downtown Mansfield for it medical services.

 

 

11)    How are prescription medicines handled ?

        ANSWER – A trained staff person will work with to meet on an individual basis to meet your needs.

 

 

12)    How much baseball do you play and how much free time is available ?

        ANSWER – Each player works at his position in the morning, hits in our batting cages at least once per day, participates in team and individual drills, along with playing two games per day weather permitting. We swim each day, and have an open supervised recreation program at 8:30 pm before bed time. More than enough baseball for the serious player.

 

 

13)    What time do you get up and go to bed?

        ANSWER – Everyone gets up at 7:30 am for breakfast and everyone is in there own rooms with lights out at 10:30 pm.

 

 

14)    Do I need air conditioning in Mansfield in the summer?

         ANSWER - Mansfield location in the endless mountains of Pennsylvania provides cool  comfortable nights. We suggest that you bring a fan just in case of a warm spell.
